Description
This is an early pontiled flint glass Georgian or Federal Period tapered liquor decanter from the 1790-1820s era. It has nice wheel cut engraved decorated band around middle with a ring of fine wheel cut stars just below that band. Cut glass fluted picket fence panels around base.....cut tear drop panels with cut tiny notches around neck.....11 sided cut polished ring collar....ground inside neck with heavy solid glass ball stopper.....Ground polished pontil scar on bottom.....clear flint glass....round tapered shape....9"tall (11 1/2"counting stopper).....Excellent shiny nice condition with no chips or damage. A nice clean decanter with no haze. A couple crude natural swirls in the glass. Old natural wear on very bottom surface. This stopper was in the bottle when I bought it. The stopper fits perfect.
