    Description

    I am putting this piece up for auction because I cannot identify it well enough to arrive at a fair Buy-it-Now price, so I’ll let you, the eBay community decide what, if anything it’s worth. My uncertainty is largely due to the fact that this piece is different from all the others I have ever seen so I have not been able to accurately date it (I am sure it was not made in 1840 as the date on the roof might seem to indicate).
    Here are the points worth mentioning:
    Color: The one thing I am sure of is that this is amethyst.
    Production method: There do not seem to be any mold marks anywhere with the exception of the neck and it appears that they all have a seam where the two halves of the neck are joined (photo 7). The only other clue might be on the bottom of the piece, where there is a two-inch diameter circular depression in the glass that’s two to three millimeters deep. In the center of the depression are raised “CB” approximately 5 mm high (photo 6).
    The photo makes it look like it's raised as opposed to a depression, but that's an optical illusion.
    Roof: The peak of the roof is clipped on both sides (photos 1, 2). One side of the roof reads “( 1 8 4 0 )” in lettering that is approximately 10 mm high (photo 2). The other side of the roof reads “E.C. BOOZ’S OLD CABIN WHISKEY” in lettering that is approximately 8 mm in height (photo 3).
    This appears in an area of the roof that is free of shingle marks (photo 3). Some of the bottles I've seen have the shingle marks across the entire roof area and it looks like the lettering was added somehow.
    Cabin sides: What I assume would be the front of the cabin has an arched door and three square windows (photo 1). Beneath the door are the letters "CB" approximately 4 mm high. Opposite the front of the cabin would be the back and it has no markings or designs whatsoever. The left side of the cabin reads "120 WALNUT S.T. PHILADELPHIA" in lettering that is 11 mm high (photo 4). The right side reads, "E. C. BOOZ'S OLD CABIN WHISKEY" in lettering 10 mm high (photo 5). In addition to the circular depression on the bottom, mentioned above, there is also a "C" in one corner and a "B" in the opposite corner, each measuring 10.5 mm high (PHOTO 6).
    Condition: The piece appears to be in overall very good condition. There are a couple bubbles in the glass, which seem to be fairly typical. However, there are no chips or scratches as far as I can tell.
    I'm starting the auction at .99; if it's not worth that much, I'll keep it in my collection. I apologize for the shipping cost, but that's the real-world price for a USPS flat rate box. If there's any way to ship it cheaper, I'll refund the difference.
