Quilt Top Dresden Plate Friendship Ring Feedsack Vintage Cotton Scrappy Big Size

Description

Here is a vintage quilt top in the Dresden Plate or Friendship Ring pattern, #3488a in the Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns by Barbara Brackman.  This pattern is categorized a Wheels design with more than eight petals. Pattern is so named by Ruby McKim.
Top is a combination of hand and machine piecing measuring approximately 86" x 93".  The petals are machine stitched together then hand appliqued to the center and outer circles.  Fabrics are vintage cottons and feedsacks from the 1930 - 1940 era.  Background fabric is muslin.  The last photo shows the back of one block.  Each of the 12 blocks is about 20 1/2" square, finished.
The sashing and borders are pink with green sashing blocks, these are machine stitched.
Top is clean and ready to set.  I did note one border seam that will need to be re-stitched and one small spot as shown in the sixth photo.
Item does not include any backing fabric, binding or batting for the top.
When working with vintage fabric, blocks, tops or quilts, prior quilting and piecing experience is helpful. Pieces were not rotary cut and cutting templates and patterns may not have been square. Pieced items may not be flat. Vintage items may have a musty or storage odor.
